It’s very tempting to book a cheap flight and see the 12 largest animals in the world right now but compose yourself! Of course there are big dogs out there, heck your neighbor might even own one. But I didn’t know that there were also seriously massive, freaky looking animals too. Honestly, I’ll take every dog, even if it’s 30, that are in dog training schools instead of going up against just one of the animals that made it on this list. Read on and you’ll see just what I mean.
Southern Elephant Seal
Don’t get confused by the cuteness of the Southern Elephant Seal, it’s actually the largest carnivore known to man. Moreover, the male is generally six times bigger than the female. The male seal weighs an upwards of 9,000 pounds and is about 15 feet in length – just let that sink in. What’s more interesting is that they can actually hold their breath for a total of two hours in depths leveling about 5,000 feet. Trust us when we say, if you should ever encounter one, you are seriously in the middle of a deadly experience.

See you later alligator couldn’t resonate more that it does right now. More specifically, the American Alligator who calls the southeastern part of America home. Probably best to never move to that region, ever. These gators have massive jaws, Olympic speed in the water, and are “cold blooded” reptilians. If you think that they’ll stick to eating just small animals then you’d be wrong. The American Alligator is known to occasionally munch on a slow moving human. Doesn’t matter if you went to dozens of dog training schools, your speed won’t amount to anything against this gator.

Sperm Whale
It’s not surprising that so many of the largest animals can be found in the ocean since it does cover 71% of the Earth’s surface. While the Sperm Whale is not the largest whale on this list, it is still a mammoth sized one. The Sperm Whale measures up to almost 70 feet in length and it has no natural predators out in the ocean. It feeds on colossal and giant squids so it’s practically a vegetarian which is good to know. Sadly, this beautiful creature needs help from an animal charity as it poached far too much due to the fact that it produces spermaceti. This is used to make candles, soap, and machine oil.

Seems odd to add this creature on this list but come on, are you really surprised? The Giraffe is the tallest animal on the planet and everyone with an elementary education knows that. It stands at around 20 feet tall and weighs about 3,500 pounds. The Giraffe uses its long neck for feeding and to fight off predators. If you’ve ever seen a Giraffe fight away an enemy then you know just how violent that sight can be.

Movies like Free Willy made attempts to showcase the Ocra as kind and lovable as dogs. However no amount of skills and tips you picked up during dog training schools is going to prepare you for the monstrosity of the Orca. They are actually very dangerous animals as they kill other whales, sharks and humans. Don’t believe that you’re safe just because they’re in an aquarium in ‘Sea World’.

White Rhinoceros
The White Rhinoceros has such a sad history because they are so heavily poached by hunters. Poachers desire their ivory horns since they sell so well on the black market. It is the cruel behavior of hunting them down that has lead them on the verge of extinction. That’s why there are so many animal charity campaigns surrounding the beautiful but dangerous White Rhinoceros. While it may be smaller than hippo, it is more dangerous because it’s strong, fast and it is big enough to destroy whatever is in their path.

Green Anaconda
Snakes are already freaky so why did they have to go and be even freakier? I’m talking about the Green Anaconda in particular. South America is where this slimy critter dwells so I’ll be crossing that off of countries to visit. Did we forget to mention that it’s the longest snake on the entire planet, reaching 17 feet in length. And how could we forget that it’s also the heaviest snake out there, weighing up to 155 pounds. If you ever run into one (let’s hope that you never do), note that it’s lightning fast in the water but it’s slow on land. Here’s another lovely tidbit, “the Green Anaconda kills by constricting and suffocating its prey which can include jaguars, deer, caimans and more.”

The Ocean Sunfish sure is a funny looking fella but it’s also the largest bony fish still alive in the world today. It kind of has a face that only a mother could love due to its flat body, giant head, and crazy size. The Ocean Sunfish is about 8 feet in length and can weigh up to 2,200 pounds.

My mother absolutely adores elephants partly because they are adorable, kind and caring creatures with unbelievable memory. On the other hand, the African Bush Elephant is considered dangerous because it is the largest and heaviest animal found on land. They can be around 25 feet in length and 11 feet tall plus it weighs up to 13,000.

Currently the Blue Whale is considered the largest animal on Earth! Partly due to the fact that it weighs over 200 tons and is about 100 feet long. That means it is bigger that a basketball court and it means it could eat up to three school buses at once without even unhinging its jaw. It’s that big.

It’s common knowledge that Brown Bears are extremely dangerous animals but do you know why? It may have something to do with the fact that on land, they are considered one of the largest carnivores. They walk at about 5 feet in height but when they stand on their hind legs, they can be around 10 feet tall. That is taller than Yao Ming. In addition, they weigh up to 2,500 pounds.

While the Colossal Squid is more on the ugly side, it is however the largest squid in the ocean. It measures up to 50 feet in length and can weigh up to 1,700 pounds. They kind of have a whole Cyclops look what with the one eye as big as the average human head. Interesting.
