Celebrities are just like us normal folk, they shop til they drop, chug liters of coffee every day, and binge watch all the latest shows. They also get notorious awards, are on covers of magazines, attend glamorous parties, and they have millions in the bank. Okay, so, maybe there are some drastic differences but when it comes to naming their babies, sometimes they go a little extreme. Take a look at some these oddly, unique names that A-List celebs blessed their kids with.
Natalie Potrman’s son sure does have an unique name, Aleph. Now the name Aleph has an interesting history, it’s the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and seeing as how Natalie is in fact, Jewish, it is quite the unusual name! But we like it, it has a nice ring to it.
Sometimes when its up to the dad to choose baby names, things can get pretty…well, insane. However we think that Chris Martin did a great job, Apple is the cutest name we’ve ever heard. Even Gwenth Paltrow agrees, while it might be odd, she simply adores it. And why wouldn’t either parent be proud of their child’s name? It’s adorable.
Blue Ivy Carter
When your parents are Beyonce and Jay-Z, you can name your child whatever you want. There was a lot of speculation rolling around as to why the couple choose the name Blue Ivy but when Queen B posted an excerpt on Tumblr from Rebecca SoInit’s 2005 novel ‘A Field Guide to Getting Lost’, it all made sense.
Parents David and Victoria are super proud of their eldest son, Brooklyn, he’s a successful model and is passionate about photography, plus he’s insanely kind and handsome. And no, they didn’t name their son Brooklyn because he was in fact conceived in Brooklyn, New York! Turns out they always liked the name Brooke and when they found out they were having a boy, they knew there was a possibility he could end up a soccer player like that so they gave him a more “manly” name. You can read all about it in Victoria’s autobiography, Learning to Fly.
I think every adores the name, Coco, because it’s so innocent, gentle, and kind. Plus the back story of how David Arquette and Courteney Cox chose the name is cute. On the show ‘Lopez Tonight’, David said, “It’s sort of an abbreviation of ‘COurtney COx’ . . . ‘CoCo’.” Now that’s cute and it sounds like the kind of person you’d have no issues getting a car insurance quote from.
Steven Spieldberg’s 19-year-old daughter is taking the fashion world by storm. She just signed a contract with DT Modelling, which is a leading boutique modeling agencies, you go girl! With her looks and her status, she’ll do such great things, plus she’ll never have to worry about car insurance quotes a day in her life. There is speculation as to why that name was chosen, some think it’s because it means ‘War Horse’ in French or because it is also a gender neutral name which is connected to ‘Dustin’ and ‘Destiny.’
Dream Renee Kardashian
Just a couple months ago, new parents Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian welcomed their adorable new baby to the world. And the story behind why they chose her name is adorable. Turns out that, Dream was Rob’s favorite name because it was always his dream to have a baby.” Awwwww. And Dream’s middle name is actually Chyna’s middle name!
Dusty Rose Levine
Singer Adam Levine and Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo welcomed their baby girl to the world just about three months ago and we’re still grinning. The couple have not said as to why she was named Dusty Rose but what we do know in the 50s, Dusty was a common name and Rose well that’s always been a common name. Fans have also noticed that the new dad has a new tattoo, that of a rose, on his chest.
Jermaine Jackson has given all of his sons quite interesting names, and none quite like Jermajesty. Now we’re not entirely sure as why he chose the name but certainly is unique.
Journey River Green
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green welcomed their third son back in August and with their two sons already named Noah and Bodhi, we knew baby number three would also have an unique name. Enter, Journey River. Honestly, we don’t even care why they chose the name, we’re just glad they did, it’s perfect.
Kal El Cage
When Nicolas Cage and his wife Alice Kim found out they were going to parents to a baby boy back in 2005, they had a tough time choosing a name. Nicholas originally thought of the name Kyleand but his wife vetoed that one because she wanted a name more unusual and beautiful. That’s how they stumbled upon Superman’s Krypton name. Nicholas said the name, “..stood for something good, was unique and American.” That was the ultimate potion for the perfect name.
When power couple Kim and Kanye revealed they were going to have a baby, everyone was dying to know what they going to name their daughter. So when the name, North, was revealed everyone assumed it was some sarcastic dig having something to do with navigation but that’s not even close. Kris Jenner revealed in an interview just why the name was chosen, “The way [Kim] explained it to me was that North means highest power, and she says that North is their highest point together and I thought that was really sweet.” Agreed, that is super sweet.
Elsie Otter Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel has always been quirky and adorable, that’s why we love her so it wasn’t surprising when the name Elsie Otter was decided. While on the Ellen show, Zooey revealed just why they chose the unusual name and the story behind the choice. “We thought Elsie is kind of a classic name. A lot of people have grandmas and aunts name Elsie.” That’s true. And when asked why the middle name Otter, she revealed that they went a little wild. “I love animals so much,” the actress explained. “And we love otters because they’re so cute, and playful and fun. And they’re really smart.” Preach, girl, we love the name!
James and Ines Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are serious #relationshipgoals and we love them so dang much. So when this beautiful couple has their first baby and named her James, we were all swooning, especially when we learned the reason behind her name. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, Ryan revealed the reason behind his gorgeous daughter’s name, “My father just passed away, but my daughter is named after him.” He carried on to defend her name after some people went up in arms that a girl should have a boys name, “In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we’re not really breaking any new ground here. I didn’t call her Summer Squash Meadowlark or something.” Exactly. Haters gonna hate. And recently, they had their second daughter and guess what they named her?? Ines! How precious is that?!
Sage Moonblood Stallone
When you’re Sylvester Stallone, you really don’t need to explain why you named your son Sage Moonblood. During his life, Sage was an actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. Sadly though, in 2012, Sage passed away.
Sunday Rose Urban
Parents Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban chose the most precious name for their daughter, Sunday Rose. Turns out they got her first name from an early 20th-century artist’s muse Sunday Reed, while her middle name, Rose, is after Urban’s late grandmother Rose.
